Пам’ятаю, коли була підлітком, то перекладала пісні своїх улюбленців, що дало неабиякий буст моїй англійській. Так що можна вважати, що Spice Girls (коли мені було 12-13) і Metallica (у 14-15 років) теж були моїми вчителями англійської.😀
Тому якщо Ви вирішили влаштувати собі музико-англійську самоосвіту, не сприймайте це завдання занадто серйозно. Наше головне завдання — зробити вивчення англійської приємним.
Не треба витрачати години не переклад! Встановіть собі квоту. Наприклад, 5 слів на пісню. Як і з будь-яким починанням, якщо себе перенавантажите, то швидко кинете. Найголовніше — не демотивувати себе!
У цій статті ми наводимо приклади декількох пісень, в яких разом із цікавими словами можна ще побачити певні граматичні структури. В текстах пісень ми свідомо пропускали слова та фрази, щоб у Вас була змога потренувати своє сприйняття англійської на слух. Всі відповіді — наприкінці статті.
SONG 1: OCTOPUS’S GARDEN

Почнемо з пісні геніальних Бітлів. Можливо, “Octopus’s Garden” (“Сад осьминога”) — не найвідоміша, але композиція чудова і має цікаву історію. Її написав Рінго Старр під час сімейної відпустки на Сардинії (в самій групі The Beatles на той момент часто були сварки, тому Рінго втік від напруженої ситуації на декілька тижнів). Тож одного дня сім’я Старрів подорожувала на яхті, капітан якої торкнувся теми осьминогів. Як виявилося, ці тварини люблять проводити час у своїй печері, а коли вилазять з неї, шукають на дні блискучі камінці, бляшанки та пляшки. Все, що знайшли, осьминоги складають перед входом в свою печеру, роблячи зі всього цього щось схоже на сад. Рінго Старр був зачарований цією історією, адже на той момент він хотів втекти від проблем у групі якомога далі. Наприклад — на дно моря, до осьминогів.

Ви ж пам’ятаєте, що до дієслова додається закінчення -s: plays, sleeps, doesn’t have, doesn’t go? Хоча це відомо майже всім, цей аспект лишається найпоширенішою помилкою в англійській. В тексті пісні ми пропустили майже всі дієслова у Present Simple. Послухайте й запишіть форми із закінченнями -s або без нього. В одному із пропусків співаки зробили граматичну помилку. Послухайте приклади використання Present Continuous у цьому свіженькому реміксі доволі старої пісні. Нагадаємо, що Present Contnuous (теперішній тривалий) використається для опису дій, що відбуваються зараз або чогось плинного, тимчасового. Складається цей час з двох елементів: am/is/are та дієслова із закінченням -ing. SONG 4: IF I WERE A BOY

Наш хіт-парад граматичних пісень не зміг би існувати без хоча б однієї мінорно-повільної пісні. Тому Бейонсе заспіває, що би сталося, якби вона була хлопцем, а ми повчимо Second Conditional (другий тип умовних речень). Хвилинкака граматики перед тим, як послухаємо пісню й виконаємо завдання.
✔️ Second Conditional використовується для опису уявних (нереальних) ситуацій зараз або у майбутньому.
✔️Речення виглядає так: IF + PAST SIMPLE, WOULD + V0 (інфінітив, тобто невизначена форма дієслова).
Наприклад: If they were millionaires, they would buy an island. They would go to the party if they liked the host.
✔️ Найпоширеніша помилка, яку роблять ті, хто вивчає англійську, — використання WOULD після IF. Не робіть цього! Адже якщо сказати If I would або If I will…, то станеться вибух! Не вірите? ✔️ І ще одне: у багатьох викликає подив використання WERE з I/he/she/it у Second Conditional. Не заходячи у граматичні дебрі, скажемо, що за необхідності WERE використовується для всіх осіб у другому умовному типі речень: If he were here… If she were smart… If it were earlier… Якщо Ви скажете WAS — не страшно, але носії мови зазвичай кажуть WERE. У пісні If I Were A Boy пропущена більшість дієслівних форм з Second Conditional. Послухайте й заповніть пропуски. Деякі форми з Second Conditional ми залишили. Знайдете їх?
